Whale Carcass washed up at popular surfing location on Rottnest Island.



CALM has warned that the carcass of a dead sperm whale has washed up on the key hole at Strickland Bay (Rottnest).

Measuring around 6 metres and minus it's head. The whale is expected to attract marine life to the immediate area where it is beached and the public especially surfers are warned not to interfere with the carcass as it may result in contracting of a disease.

To ensure your safety it is recommended that:

# You do not swim or surf in this area.

# You do not interfere with the carcass as this may result in the contracting of disease.

CALM Rangers and local authorities are discussing whether to have the carcass towed off the beach and out to sea.
