Dynamic Goofy footer Wimmer heads West.

(Western Australia 21/02/05) Tom Wimmer has been snapped up by West Surfing Products Australia and will be used to spearhead the marketing campaigns for West.
The talented Goofy footer from Trigg Beach is renowned for his dynamic explosive surfing and has gained respect from the "fin and rail" surfing fraternity.

"Fin and rail" is a tag given to surfers who use the rail of their board and utilise this combined with their fins to perform powerfully driven manouvres which make them stand out from the pack.

Wimmer comes to West with a heap of experience and credibility not only in competition surfing, but also with his free surfing abilities that continually blow minds both in and out of the water.

Selected as West Australian team Captain at the recent Australian titles in Phillip Island Victoria, where he also competed in the under 18's division of the event, Wimmer stood his ground throughout the event.

He set a blistering pace early during the competition defeating the much publised and favorite to win the event Matt "Wilko" Wilkinson in his first round heat. He also narrowly missed out on winning the coveted Duke Kahanamoku trophy from Mitch Coleburn.

Wimmer then went onto place a very credible 3rd in the final and is now a member of the team to contest the world tittles at Huntington Beach in October this year with the Australian Team. Along with being a member of the Australian Team, he is also seeded into the round of 96 at all Australasian events and is in good standing to bring in some impressive results.

"Tom was easily the most polished surfer at the national titles" said Surfing WA high performance junior coach Mark Clift, "He trained so hard for the event after being very unlucky the past two years placing 5th, it was no surprise he finished third in the final. He has a burning desire to do well and be the best and I rekon he will do it," he added.

"I'm pretty stoked with the crew from West as I can now get to compete in the events without the hassles and stressed attached not only on myself, but my parents of finding the money to do it. I can now focus on my goals and concentrate more on my surfing" said Wimmer.

The last 23 years has seen West Surfing Products develop into a hard core global surf company that has not forgotten it's roots and where it all began. Surfing!
